Bereavement

Space2grieve

space2grieve is a local registered charity, founded by a group of highly trained volunteers who have many years of experience in bereavement support. We support anyone who lives in the Richmond borough who has been bereaved by any means, at any time. Support is in the form of one-to-one sessions that can be face to face at the ETNA Community Centre in East Twickenham, the Castlenau Community Centre in Barnes, and the Greenwood Community Centre in Hampton Hill or in school, or at home remotely on the phone or via zoom. The sessions are free, and available via self referral:

space2grieve also offers specialist support to Children and Young People including in person Parenting Through Grief sessions for parents. When a significant person in a child’s life has died, parents and carers can feel overwhelmed and deskilled – uncertain how best to support their children when often they are grieving themselves. Our experienced Specialist Bereavement Supporters tailor their support to the age and circumstances of the child, providing parents  a space to talk it through, as well as key information and resources, so that they leave feeling better equipped to help their grieving children.

Since February 2022, when this unique free service was initiated, we have carried out over 100 in-depth Parenting through Grief sessions, working with parents and carers of children of all ages from 5-17.  Following this initial session, where appropriate, space2grieve can go on to offer the child or young person free support within school, at home, on the phone or Zoom, or in our friendly space at the ETNA Community Centre.

If this service may be of help, please get in touch. No referral needed.

space2grieve also supports compassionate cuppa, a monthly free grief café providing support and connection for bereaved residents of the Richmond Borough. space2grieve volunteers offer a warm welcome, but more importantly a safe place to share experiences with other bereaved people. This is a drop-in service, no referral needed.
