Safer Sleep Week – 9th to 15th March

Sadly around four babies a week still die from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and if all parents were aware of Safer sleep advice , many lives could be saved. Every year the Lullaby Trust promote safe sleeping through their Safer Sleep Week which runs from 9th to 15th March. The theme for 2026 is: Baby Necessities. The theme urges parents and carers to ‘keep it simple to keep it safe’ when thinking about or purchasing baby sleep products. The Lullaby Trust campaign offers advice and information on: · what products to buy, what to avoid · what to look for in a product and if its safe for sleep · what to dress your baby in for sleep in different temperatures. The campaign by the Lullaby Trust offers a range of resources for professionals and organisations to download, display and share with families to help keep babies safe. Resources include posters, easy read cards and a social media kit to promote the week. Public Health have also created a brief safer sleep advice webpage including links to other top tips for

keeping babies and young children safe in and around the home.
